Daily Dairy Digest: 26th of January
Los informes de mercado se publican únicamente en inglés. El resto del sitio sí está disponible en su idioma.
Yesterday we were on the road all day so we had little time to write our update. But we did want to give a quick overview of what we saw on the market. As in the previous days, the most aggressive sellers seem to be the producers, traders are laying low for now. Buying interest remains very low and the market feels calm compared to the previous weeks.
The market for liquids seems to stabilize a bit. After trading a lot down last week this week the market seems to be finding some higher trades again. Raw milk is reported to be around 30ct per litre, cream between € 4250 and € 4450 and SMC is available between € 1600 and € 1750.
All our trades were for butter yesterday. We traded a few trucks of NL/DE/BE fresh at € 4200,- for February and we traded 6 trucks of Irish frozen butter for February and March at € 4050,- FCA. But as said, producers seem to be offerings a bit sharper. German butter is sold at levels between € 4050 and € 4150, Polish butter is traded between € 3800 and € 3900 and for Irish butter, we hear offers from producers at € 3900 for winter butter and € 3950 for summer quality.
The cheese market wasn't easy to bring together yesterday. We see buyers for mozzarella at around € 2500,- and we have sellers at € 2750. Speaking to the producers we understand the price should be somewhere in the middle. Gouda and Edam buyers are to be found between € 2750 and € 2800. Also here we see traders offering between € 2850 and € 2900,- but some producers are reported to sell Gouda / Edam between € 2500 and € 2650 for February.
The SMP market will see the result of the Soummam tender today, but looking at the CME futures the market looks to expect lower prices. The first feedback we got was that some expect the price that will be closing to be around $ 2600,- CIF. If true it's another bummer for the EU SMP market.
In general, the market still feels bearish, but maybe we have hit a level of support on some commodities. We have seen before that during the last week of the month, the market takes a moment to slow down and catch its breath. We will be doing the same.
Tomorrow we will be back with a full report, for now, we wish you happy trading!
