Again a reasonably active day, with most activity on butter and cheese. Butter seemed a bit firmer in the morning, but traded lower towards the end of the day, cheese showed a similar pattern. But we still can't see a real market direction as most participants are only in the market for a few trucks here and there. We don't see any significant directional trades from any side.

The market for liquids didn't push the market in a specific direction. During the day we heard some higher trades for cream, but on average we don't see a really significant increase that would suggest a market turnaround. Easter demand seems to be the cause for some additional demand. Raw milk is still trading below 30ct indicating that demand is still low. Cream prices are reported around € 5100 (with prices up to € 5250) and SMC prices we hear between € 1550 and € 1650.

Looking outside of the dairy market stock markets are plunging down due to worries about the Credit Suisse bank. This had a big impact on the strength of the euro, dropping to 1.055 against the USD. This 2% drop might have some impact on smp exports.
