Daily Dairy Digest: 18th of April

    We start week 16 with a very slow start. Our partners seem to be waiting for the GDT and for the market for liquids to get more active. Again we see the same pattern as last week. Sellers for Q2 and Buyers for Q3 on almost every product we trade. Producers try again to get the sales price up a bit (again for all commodities) as last week the market seemed to lift up a bit. We think we need to wait another 2-3 days to see if buyers are willing to accept higher prices.

    But for now, all eyes are set on the GDT and de weekly milk intake in the EU. Yesterday we already indicated that we expect the GDT results to be down. Especially WMP, Butter and AMF are expected to trade lower, but SMP might be able to hold up a bit. All will depend on the fact if buying activity will pick up a bit after weeks of slowdowns.

    There are a lot of ifs buts maybes and perhaps arguments in the market, and we feel its doesn't make a lot of sense to keep repeating them. In a market this thin we believe the slidest nudge of information can move the market up or down, so we keep scouting for this information.
