    We are closing the books for 2022! And what a year it has been! The first full year for Get Fair Dairy as a broker has been a rollercoaster. We have seen all-time high prices for butter at € 7500, Gouda cheese at € 5350,- SMP at € 4400 and raw milk price at € 0.65. The market has had to manage the COVID-19 pandemic (yes, we still had lockdowns this year) and COVID is still affecting the Chinese market. The war in Ukraine had a significant impact on prices for grains, feed, fertilizer, and oil, and it is still impacting gas and energy prices. We have seen the dollar/euro fx rate trade between 1.15 and 0.95, container rates went up to € 15.000,- per container and finding wheels in Europe has been very difficult. And the market outlook for 2023 isn't less volatile. Commodity prices are on their way back to levels of 2021 and we expect them to be trading again at the long-term average prices for the first 6 months of next year.

    From our personal perspective, we have seen our reader base grow from 300 to over 600 daily readers for our daily update in more than 40 countries. We started a podcast, connected over 85 businesses brokered over 1500 deals and moved around over 60,000mt of dairy products. We launched a new small platform to connect even more market participants and create more transparency in the market so all market participants can make important decisions with as much information as possible. We have enjoyed writing our updates, we have had firm and intense debates about our market views and are thankful for all the feedback we have been getting back. We made some great new friends and we are thankful for all the trust you have put into our service and our market analysis.

    After slowing down in the last three weeks (no updates, podcast) we will be putting our business in Christmas mode starting today. And as it is impossible to thank 600 people in person, we want to thank you all via this email for a wonderful 2022. We will be back on the 2nd of January to assist you with your dairy demand, to talk with you about the market dynamics and to inform you with our daily dairy digest (email and podcast).

    For now, we wish you a Happy Christmas, good health and the best start for 2023! We hope to see you all back here again!
