Weekly Update: Calm week ahead.

Last week the market continued to trade up. All products traded up roughly 10-20ct and we saw action on all three primary commodities (butter, cheese and powders). Although the market feels firm, we don't think this week will add much more to the prices we see. There is simply too much pressure for close by to really lift the prices further we believe.
Although we seem to have left the peak of the milk behind us, it is not as if we are at the dip of the milk now. Milk continues to flow in Europe and producers still need to manage their milk pools. Looking at the spot milk price, producers seem to be managing their milk volumes a lot better. At prices around 40ct, the spot market feels a lot more balanced. Cream and SMP traded up a lot last week, but at the end of the week, it seemed again prices topped off and got a bit more under pressure.
This week we don't expect a lot of information to shock the market. Next week GDT might give some more insights about international demand. So far we don't expect any big international tenders and it's too early for a pre-summer rally.
