Local Milk Production and Consumption up Equally

    As most of our readers know we are a small family-owned business that started just over 2.5 years ago and it was founded by me (Wouter Reijntjes) and my wife (Kim Reijntjes). Normally we share with you our market view on milk production and consumption in the EU and the rest of the world and how that impacts the market. But today I want to single out a very very very local event, with a big impact on Get Fair Dairy. 

    On the 10th of January at 11:05 in a small town called Weert, Lina Reijntjes was born a healthy strong and (if we may say so ourselves) beautiful girl. She is the daughter of Wouter and Kim and the brother of Ollie and will be impacting the local supply and demand of milk, attention, energy and time in a major way. We are used to analyzing and brokering a market in disbalance or faced with sudden supply shifts, but the sudden change in supply and demand of these commodities is hard to analyze and broker.

    As soon as we find a way to manage these new supply chain and S&D challenges we will be back with a daily analysis. Until then we hope you forgive us if we skip an update now and then. For the first few days, we will remain absent with our updates and we will be available next week again to help our customers buy and sell commodities again. We can only ask for your understanding that we will be a bit harder to reach in the next weeks.

With raw milk prices averaging €0.65, SMC prices reaching €2,550, and cream prices breaking records at €10,000 to €10,250, it’s evident that processors are fiercely competing for raw materials. This has left minimal supply available for commodity production.
